OUR VISION

BUILDING A CULTURE OF MINDFULNESS

Our vision is a culture of Mindfulness for Cashiers and the Surrounding area.

We are working to bring Introduction to Mindfulness Trainings to the teachers at our local schools, preschools, and the Boys and Girls Club as a support to the teachers themselves, and so that they can teach in a more calm, connected and mindful way, and effectively teach age appropriate mindfulness lessons to their students.  For teachers inspired to go farther with the mindfulness training we would like to provide scholarships for teachers to attend accredited mindfulness programs designed specifically for public school educators.  We are also interested in providing volunteer led mindfulness teachings directly to the students.

We are also looking into constructing mindfulness benches throughout the community for public use to be present and enjoy the beauty of our community.

Additionally we are working towards major fundraising efforts to create Inspiring Environments for our childrens' schools that enhance learning and opportunities for success and teachings that can elevate students out of cycles of generational poverty.  We are interested in supporting all those who see a need in the community and want to address it and make our community a healthier, happier, more connected and diverse place to thrive.

Why Mindfulness?

Mindfulness teaches us to be present with what is and with ourselves in a compassionate and non-judgemental way.  It begins to create space between thought or event and reaction.  It creates a culture of kindness.  It increases attention span and increases learning retention.  Mindfulness creates a better sense of self and self esteem and resilience in our young people and people of all ages.  It becomes a tool that we can use when life's challenges threaten to derail us.  Mindfulness can be the first line of defense in mental illness, it can help those struggling with depression and anxiety to experience fewer relapses and can be a great tool in building greater emotional intelligence.  Maybe best of all, mindfulness can be a support tool for our often spread too thin teachers and school staff that allows them to show up as the teacher and person they always dreamed of being so they can make the greatest impact possible on the children they interact with every day.

Youth

A mindfulness practice builds empathy, focus, resilience, and success.  We want all of our children to thrive here.  This gives them the opportunity to pause, to consider their choices, to act with wisdom instead of reacting out of habit, and to develop emotional maturity.  All of these things are just as important to the future success of our children as their education.

Community

We will be providing community events to engage our families and the rest of our population in developing a mindfulness practice of compassion and non-judgmental awareness of what is.

Social Activism

Social activism will be part of what we are doing with a huge effort to 'CULTIVATE KINDNESS' in our beautiful mountain town, and to impact our visitors with our joyful and inspiring message.  T-shirts are for sale at all times and we will have Cultivate Kindness Days here in Cashiers at strategic times to get out the message and create inspiring, days for a brighter now and an even brighter future.  We hope to include art installations, public mindfulness benches, and more T-shirt campaigns in the future!

a word from the founder

what is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of being present to what is in a compassionate and non-judgemental way.
We can learn to sit, mindfully, to breath mindfully, walk mindfully, and speak mindfully.  Eventually, mindfulness becomes a way of being.
Mindfulness builds empathy, resilience, focus and the likelihood of success.
